Jason's 1993 coupe
« on: January 24, 2012, 12:19:39 PM »
Gonna give this another go,most of u know it's history and how i lost most of the pics, i Have been slowly redo'ing a ex-4cyl coupe for the past 2 1/2 years. It went from a quick 302/t5/8.8 swap idea  and drive it , to i'll tear it all apart and replace, update, increase strength throughout the whole car.

Also gave the car a quick makeover with a couple coats of some Arctic white paint  with some body work and rocker panel replacements /quarter window refinish/trim repaint, door handles, etc. Also added a set of thru the floor subframe connectors, that i built and did myself

A quick description of where its at today.. to hold you over till pics

Team Z k member and control arms with strange coilovers and adj. struts
Flaming river manual rack  w/  Team  Z bumpsteer
Maximum motorsports manual brake kit w/ 93' cobra master cylinder coupled with a Wilwood prop. valve. and Hurst line-loc
Pbr aluminum  front calipers with 95' spindles w/ 3" studs/ MM braided  brake lines

Team Z rear dbl. adjustable control arms w/spherical bushings
Strange 31 spline C-clip eliminators w/3" studs
31 spline t-loc with carbon discs and altered clutch pack stack.
Sn rear disc conversion

Taylor alum. battery box out back with 1/0 guage power and grounds.
New stock tank with comp. eng. sump welded on.
Msd dig. 6al box,coil.

There is more im forgetting but thats the jist of it, as where it is today, and still on jacks with no wheels.. :( Just another project of mine , all built by me in my little garage. With a lot of help from the forums and a few good friends. The engine is not totally planned out or do i have all the parts, but will have a little larger stroke and rods then the stock ol' 302. ;D Just building a strong foundation for a fun ride.

Lol...here ya go, you've seen all of them before, nothing real new, but to catch back up here are most of what i have left.

The day it came home, stayed together for about..oh a day..then parted out the drivetrain..

The ugly bay once motor was pulled..Yuck...

Got to work cleaning up the bay, filling up the swiss cheese, and routing wires, hood latch stuff thru inner fender.New self made pieces mocked up ready for the welder

during
epoxy primer

My thru the floor subframe connectors made from 2" x 2" .120 wall steel, along with weling up the torque boxes and wild rides battle box kit welded up.

mocked up

Then i did what i wasnt gonna, paint it, which turned out to be a bigger job than i had originally though, tons of dents, had to cut out and form,weld-in new corners of each rocker, replace door bushings, all new weather stripping, handles, etc. Along with completely redo'ing the quarter windows , which turned out good after a few coats of SEM trim paint after about 10 hours of repairing them. All this done in my lonly little garage by me.
Primer

Couple coats of Arctic white, in acrylic enamel. The lighting on the camera was screwed up on first pic

Pbr twin piston alum. calipers, worth about 14lbs less than the 94-98 cast iron single piston calipers i first had on their at first.

MM manual brake kit. Very nice quality .

Installed with the 93' cobra master cylinder with hurst line-loc plumbed in,along with digital 6Al box

Team Z Dbl. adj. lower and upper control arms,Strange 31 spline c-clip elim. axles w/SN rear disc swap

Some random pics
Taylor battery box in trunk  w/1/0 guage welding cable for power and ground leads, along with moroso cut-off switch.

My oldest son helping me mock up the Team Z k-member.. ;D

Redid the interior in black, redid the headliner, package tray and picked up a set of Oem black seat belts, still need seats, carpet

No new pics as of yet.....but a few things ready to install and a few on there way right now.

Team Z dbl/adj. conventional rear upper control arms
Team Z spherical bushings and a few new heim joints for the upper control arms.
Team Z Bumpsteer kit (still have to order)
Flaming river manual rack and bushings
Some 12"/200# coilover springs (got cheap just to replace the 14" i have now  to get it a little lower and more height adjustability)
Picked up some 01' cobra wheels for a good price off craigslist, just for now to get the sucker off the jacks.. ;D
Just need to pick up some open ended lugs and some time so i can get this sucker off the jacks on its own for the first time..in oh...2 1/2 years..

Also picked up a New anderson N71 cam, not sure if i will use it, but the price was right so..

Hey dana , i just finally opened the box the crank was in, at first glance it looks to be finished very nice , havent measured anything..but it sure looks purdy..lol.

Also gonna have some questions once i start putting the front end together, concerning the bumpsteer, rack, alignment setup.

pics to come.

Thanks for noticing.. ;D

It's been slow going on it lately, kids, being sick, and wrenching a little on the girls 70' chevelle lately has took all my time.

But i did manage to finally get the garage back in order today, so will be getting some time to work on it thru the week some, hope by next weekend it might actually be resting on  the ground , actually on some tires...lol..It's been stuck right there as the pics show for about 2 1/2 years.. :( :o

No, does not lower the engine without the 1" lowering engine mounts (by request).

Dana is right , unless you order their k member with the drop option they come  standard height, which mine is.

I picked these wheels/tires up just for some street wheels for now,,but the 245 looks way to small under there..

My kmember is the 1" drop option, which may be where the confusion started...

Looks really good Jason!
Any movement on the engine?
