and told me a story.  He killed his '94 F150 by hitting a log on the beach.
I went and looked at it, yeah, he'd centerpunched something much heavier
than the truck.  Both motor mounts and the tranny mount were broken, the
bell housing bolts had contacted the fire wall, the front bumper had a nice
90* fold in it, as did the lower portion of the radiator support and the radiator
itself.  I said, she's done, you need a new engine, transmission, and I wouldn't
be surprised if the rear end is bent...

 Let's say he was depressed...

So today, he shows up on my deck and said he'd had it hauled off, then he
offered me money for my old '86 F150.  Which hasn't run since September,
when I parked it beside the garage with a load of crap to go to the dump.

I told him it probably won't start, but I'll get the keys and give it a go...
Turned the key on, then off, then on, then tried to start it.  Fired right up,
idled like it was a daily driver, shit...

I'd owned that truck for 24 years, 296K miles, no major engine work, just
the odd sensor, a lot of oil changes, 8 sets of tires, and it runs like a new
one after sitting for 6 months...

I'm gonna miss that truck...

I was thinking of buying an old 86' truck and turn it into my trailer truck for my 86' mustang...

Darn.

Go for an F250 if you want to tow, the 5.0L in the F150 King Cab doesn't
really have the grunt to tow well...

I'll tell you what the weird thing is, hearing your truck start when you're
sitting having your morning coffee... Grin

But it is good to see it running down the road...
