i have a buddy who can tig weld the sump on the stock tank for me for a case of beer probably..lol..and a fuel cell well ?? not real sure if i really need one?

car will be a 50/50 % weekend toy/strip toy   will probably just be a healthy h/c/i 302 until funds allow for  a healthy 347 or similiar down the road, stick car most likely.

pros and cons.. :thinkiing:

as 1 thing i have heard is with the sumped tank  u need to keep atleasst 3/8 -1/2 tank at all times or problems with the fuel sloshing and such... :unh:

What are the track regulations regarding sumped tanks vs. fuel cells?

Are fuel cells street legal?

Just my penny thought here;
a fuel cell which does not incorporate a pressure regulated vapor return system is not legal in Washington State.
It's an emissions issue, not a safety issue.

Track doesn't care either way.  If you are using a fuel cell, the bottom of the cell and the sump must be protected by metal (I would have to look up the thickness).

I am going to sump a stock tank this winter for my '83.  The fuel cell is great for a track-only car, but a stock tank with the stock fuel filler location will be nice for the street.

Waaaah?
You don't want to "pop" the trunk at the gas station to fill er up? :lmao:

I don't have a choice...  Jason has my old stock gas tank/filler neck.  I also have an 86'...  won't need inspection next year!

 :P

My '83 is a hatch.  This year for a race I would take a pop-up shelter, card table, chairs, tool box, extra parts box, and cooler all in the hatch area.  I never had the foresight to fill-er-up before going to the track, so for me, I either couldn't take that much stuff if the cell is above the floor, or would have to empty the hatch area to get under the floor to fill the cell.

My other 2 fox racecars are both coupes; both of them have fuel cells (5 gal and 10 gal), and both are trailer-only to the track, so I don't have to worry about putting things in the trunk in them.

So, for me, street car = tank, race car = cell.
