Ok, I have had this on my mind for a while now and after talking with some other bigger name companies that are showing a high level of interest I need to see what some of the locals would think of this.
EVENT: KING OF THE STREET
TYPE: Heads up Drag Racing / Bracket Drag Racing
TIME: TBA
RULES: Vehicle must be street legal, registered and licensed (current tabs), on a street based tire (drag radials are allowed), must be able to DRIVE TO THE TRACK as well as a cruise to the track to be eligible (NO BREAK DOWNS OR VEHICLE WILL BE DQ)
There will be 2 events to register for (or both if you want)
Event #1: heads up run what you brung
Event #2: Bracket's
Event will be a 2 day ordeal
Day 1 -MORNING: starts with a cruise from a predetermined location leading through a few city areas followed by a spirited highway run to PIR for tech and time trials along with a nice BBQ for event competitors.
AFTERNOON: Eliminations starting with heads up (double elimination) and Brackets (double elimination)
Evening: (around 430pm-10pm) Car show, continuation on racing, swap meet, BBQ continued and possibly a live band
Day 2 - Morning starts with a breakfast for drivers and to go over the days agenda.
around 1030 racing begins with the 2nd round of eliminations on both heads up and brackets (depending on turn out)
FINALS: 2 Race hot lap if its tied 1/1 it will bring into a "sudden death" so to speak 3rd round.
Evening: Drivers dinner and awards
What are your thoughts on this and how many of the locals do you think would turn out if a event like this was put on.
admission fee (estimate) 35 to race (per class heads up and bkt) for drivers.
I would like some of the proceeds to be donated to the families of the local military who were effected with a loss to life or serious injury during their family members deployment as well as a donation to the nat'l cancer foundation.
there will be awards for the following:
FASTEST DOMESTIC
FASTEST IMPORT
FASTEST EURO
FASTEST MPH
FASTEST ET
FASTEST R/T

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... King of Street has always been a cash payout. This is the reason why a GOOD turnout is needed.
Maybe the Bracket guys run for a trophy and a little cash, but the "Heads Up" guys... you wont get anyone to run if there's no payout.
You're a newb so I won't pick on you too much. LOL

this isnt going to just be a "wall-e" event. im trying to get a estimate of how many would show and participate before getting into the true nitty gritty and yes there will be cash pay-outs.. I may be a "newb" on this site but i have hosted several very sucessful events in the past. I am planning on doing this at PIR (pacific) still waiting on a email back that I sent them. safety gear will be typical of any NHRA/IHRA event (min. of a helmet (snell 95 +), long sleeves, pants, cage for cars running 11.49 or faster as saftey needs to be a important roll (we dont need a wreck and someone loosing their life due to lack of saftey on their part). I may even be bringing my old 4cyl out that traps 136 on street tires as the guy who bought it is too afraid to drive it at the track and asked me if i would run it for him lol.

The rules sound a lot like car club challenge rules. I can tell you that our largest turnout was 66 racers one day at Bremerton. We average about 50 racers/event at Bremerton, and 30 racers/event at Pacific. Just to give you an idea of numbers for the CCC races. It seems like there are an awful lot more slick cars in the PNW than DOT cars.
I think the idea sounds good, and I would race it, but maybe start with a 1-day event to see how popular it is. If you do run 2 days, why not run it like a True Street event, doing the road drive and then making 3 passes, and giving trophys for the closest 10-second avg, 11-second avg, etc. racers, and an overall trophy. Second day run a bracket race. Then you get your heads-up and bracket racing done.

I would race as well but you might want to get ahold of the PNWSCA (Pro Street Assn.) because there is alot of similarities to what you're planning and what they currently do. I like the idea myself. Get ahold of them and maybe they would like to help with the organization of it because I can see alot of there racers joining in. The Pro Street guys are really nice people and are great to be around. I would guarrantee and big car count if they get involved as well. Alot of their cars definitely don't have a problem with road trips and brutal ET's. I know of one that runs 7's, registered, and is street driven.

You aren't the one I'm calling a "newb".
I like the idea... "king of street" went away where I raced in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. It was fun, cheaper than Pro Street (that's what I ran), and had decent payouts. I also liked it because they ran last... so if you were put on the trailer in your other class, you still had a chance to spank someone in King of Street.
Thinking back on it now... it's almost unfair to put your slowest King of Street against the quickest Pro Street in elims...

im sending alot of emails out lately and have posted on a few forums as well and have had quite a bit of "interest" in the idea. we had one in alaska and it was always a pretty huge turnout for what it was. Lee I will contact those who you listed and see what they say.. main reason im trying to judge how much interest there will be is due to the fact I will be shelling out a chunk of my deployment $ to get this started (track rental and such). hopfully if things do work out well enough I can get some corp. cash to flow in and lighten the load on my bank account.
