I'm buying a Flow Bench...
« on: January 30, 2012, 02:29:09 PM »
Depending on the parts I install, it will either be as accurate or more than the SF450.
The Bench I'm looking to get is the PTS digital system.  I believe with my background and the equipment I have available to me, I can get this bench to be very accurate up to 400cfm @ 28" wc.  600cfm @ 28" wc if there's a need for it.

The only obstacle I have right now is where to store and operate this thing.
I could do this in my garage at home, but space is limited and I don't like to be cramped while working, however it's very convenient.
I'm looking to get some space at my work, but if I have to move the bench...  it's going to be a PITA, and not very convenient as it's a few miles from home.
I'm going to get with my Cylinder Head machinist and see if he'd be interested in my "venture" ;D

I have a few things I need to flow of my own for "baseline" data and more testing as I progress with the porting.

Wish me luck...   I have no idea how this is going to pan out business wise.

If you weren't such a hoarder (as u say.. ;)..)  you would'nt have to worry about where to put it.. :lmaofloor:

I for one am interested to see how your FAC's do.... :thinkiing:....As i am sure u are also.

This is a very cool area where i'd like to learn as to how/where/what the air does, etc..

Decided to go through with it... nice!

I may be able to offer you a little business as well... we'll have to see what direction I end up going with the 4 banger.

Keep us posted Dana!

Cool... :handrub:

You bought the components for one, or the full meal deal all in one?

How much space do these take up?

It's parts.
Together it probably weighs in the neighborhood of 500lbs.

It's the size of of a large stove/oven combo with overhead fan.
I'm planning on installing 8 commercial duty 220v vacuum motors.
It will be a monster. :naughty:

Holy smokes .....8   220v   motors.. :o
The 120v version will pull 9amp at max each motor
The 220v version will pull 4.5amp at max each motor

Not hard to pick the better of the two.
This goes with any electrically driven device.  More volts = less current to power it. ;D

Yes.
It's slow going because this is a "side track" to what I'm trying to do, which is finish my race car and stay on budget everywhere else.
If I had more people interested, I could recoup the cost quicker and it wouldn't be an issue. :thinkiing:
